Kacey Baines

Powerlifter, Strength Coach, Pregnancy & Postpartum Specialist
ABOUT

About

Kacey picked up her first barbell at the age of 18 and has been an advocate of strength training ever since.  She is a former Team Canada powerlifter, certified Strength Coach, and Pregnancy & Postpartum Specialist.

Though retired from competitive powerlifting, Kacey enjoyed a 14 year long career as one of Canada’s top lifters.  She competed at IPF World Championships in Salo, Finland (8th place), and the Commonwealth Championships in BC., Canada (1st place), in 2015.  She has won her class at CPU Nationals four times and has held multiple provincial and national records.

Kacey was owner/operator of Montreal's best-known powerlifting gym, Epicentre Training, for 11 years. She closed Epicentre in 2019 to focus on raising a family.

Kacey currently coaches online, and in-person for specialty consults,

workshops, and seminars.

Kacey has coached & developed powerlifters from novices at the regional level, right up to medallists on the international stage, but she has a special interest in beginners and those experiencing difficulty returning to exercise.

Since the birth of her first child in 2017, Kacey has extensively studied pregnancy & postpartum fitness and immersed herself in the world of pelvic health. She collaborates with a network of pelvic physiotherapists to support those wishing to exercise with pelvic health considerations.

Kacey received a BFA from Concordia University in 2003 and it was at this time she completed her first personal training certification, furthering her studies over the years through YMCA, CanFitPro, FMS, ISSA, P&PPA, TFA Level 1 & 2.

When she isn't coaching, Kacey spends her time training, painting, baking, and trying to keep up with her three busy young children!

TESTIMONIAL
Kacey supported my recovery from two pregnancies.
I struggled with neck and shoulder pain from nursing and needed support strengthening my back to be able to cuddle my babies without pain. I needed to workout at home so, Kacey tailored a work-out routine to my needs. She understood exactly when I said that with two small children at home, I only had about 15 to 20 minutes a day to workout. The workout program helped me strengthen my shoulders and back and prevented me from injuring myself while I chased two tiny (but heavy) babies around all summer.
